Master 2 (2nd year of Master's) in Philosophy, Applied Medical and Hospital Ethics course at UGE; M1 (1st year of Master's) from another university following an interview proving good knowledge of ethics
- Licence degree or equivalent in the health field
Benefits of the program
The uniqueness of this course lies in the fact that it establishes strong links between the philosophical tradition and the most vivid realities of the world of healthcare in the broadest sense; to contribute to producing high-level philosophical anthropology. It also ensures students are carefully supported.
Acquired skills
Good knowledge of the fundamental texts of the philosophical tradition of ethics. Real autonomy for ethical reflection. Ability to take part in conferences, congresses, to write ethics-related articles. Have the skills required to teach ethics, as well as to be able to participate in various ethics spaces, committees and commissions. For top students, acquiring sufficient skills to pursue a PhD.

The diploma does not offer initial training students a professional status directly, but is a sound base for moving towards research (purely academic (university) or applied related to medical issues), towards teaching (CAPES - secondary school teaching certificate and philosophy aggregation, general or specialized teaching), towards entrance exams (IRA - Regional Administration Institute; IEP - Political Studies Institute).
students, who are already professionals, continue to work and see their career progress through this diploma: in charge of environmental or speciality ethics spaces, committees or commissions, in charge of ethics training, promotion from the position of nurse to that of executive, from that of executive to that of trainer, from that of doctor to that of PUPH (University Professor-Hospital Practitioner), etc.
Study objectives
- Provide basic philosophical training for ethical reflection.
- Introduce students to the great texts of ethical thought, from Antiquity to the present day.
- Provide them with the means to acquire personal autonomy in reading and using books and other documents on ethics.
- Enable them to think about their practice in the field, exercise vigilance and make ethical decisions based on a study of major philosophical concepts and authors.

Calendar
Most of the classes, seminars and support take place during grouped sessions over 2 consecutive days (a Wednesday and a Thursday) per month, from November to June. In addition to the above, the weekly seminar is held every Thursday evening from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Picpus Campus (outside school holiday periods)
