Entry requirements

Students can be admitted to L2 after completing L1 in French Language, Literature and Humanities or a year of preparatory class in literature. Students can be admitted to L2 after completing a high school diploma plus another diploma equivalent to one year of higher education (subject to deliberation by the selection committee).

Students can be admitted to L3 after completing L2 in French Language, Literature and Humanities or two years of preparatory class in literature. Students can be admitted to L3 after completing a high school diploma plus another diploma equivalent to two years of higher education (subject to deliberation by the selection committee).

Expected skills and knowledge: good level of written and oral expression in French, literary knowledge, creativity, curiosity and open-mindedness.

Benefits of the program

The course provides students with the foundations of the discipline (textual analysis through essay and commentary exercises, oral presentations on summary questions, etc.).

The programme in French Language, Literature and Humanities - Primary Teaching features:

- specialised units from L2 preparing students for the primary teaching recruitment exam (CRPE): mathematics, history and geography, French didactics and phonology, arts, etc.

- an introduction to children’s literature

- an introduction to teaching professions

- a mandatory work placement in an educational institution

- emphasis placed on modern language classes, included in the curriculum;

- a high level of support for students, who are supervised by an appointed tutor throughout their course.

Acquired skills

Proficiency in written and oral French; excellent literary knowledge; ability to analyse literary texts and understand them in their historic context; written and oral expression in a foreign language (English); curiosity and creativity; creation of your career plan in primary teaching.

International

Students can undertake a foreign exchange under the Erasmus programme: the university has agreements with Babes-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca, Romania), University of Debrecen (Hungary), University of Warsaw (Poland), Adam Mickiewicz University (Poznan, Poland), University of Presov (Slovakia), University of Alicante, University of Cádiz and University of Valencia (Spain), and Saarland University (Germany). Outside of Europe, exchanges can be organised as part of partnerships with Jeonbuk National University (South Korea), National Autonomous University of Mexico (Unam), National University of Colombia (UNAL) and University of Costa Rica. Students can also access the CREPUQ (Canada-Quebec), MICEFA and CODOFIL (US) programmes.

The programme in French Language, Literature and Humanities - Primary Teaching aims to prepare students for a Master’s in Careers in Teaching, Education and Training, Primary (managed by INSPE), during which they will be able to sit the primary teaching recruitment exam (CRPE). However, students from this programme can also apply to other Master’s programmes, particularly:

- Master’s in Careers in Teaching, Education and Training, Secondary (preparation for the CAPES exam)

- Master’s in Literature, Knowledge and Digital Culture

- Master’s in Print and Digital Publishing.

Professional integration

The main aim of the course is to train future primary school teachers. It places the emphasis on professional experience through a range of programmes, specifically:

- Introduction to teaching professions in L2

- Mandatory work placement in an educational institution in L3
