Entry requirements

The first-year Master’s in Economic Intelligence is open to students from all disciplines who hold a degree equivalent to three years of higher education (180 credits). The course is also open to experienced professionals who wish to acquire advanced skills in digital technology (validation of personal and professional skills), depending on their motivations and profile. Teaching is carried out in a work-study format as initial training (mainly apprenticeships) or lifelong learning.

The course is mainly apprenticeship-based. Our students benefit from the university’s extensive network. They occupy positions related to economic intelligence in companies who are long-standing partners. These positions include: Head of a reputational risk monitoring unit, Influencer, Consultant in information/disinformation and corporate communication strategy, Lobbyist, Coordinator of networks of actors (federations, associations, groups) and communities (clubs, think tanks), External/institutional/digital communication manager, Community manager (particularly on social networks), Watchman, Investigator and analyst on social networks, Consultant in public affairs and public relations.

 

- Teaching is dispensed in a variety of forms including theory classes, tutorials, case studies, projects and serious games.

- Empowering and creative tutored projects: communication audits, lobbying, events, digital presence and influence strategies, communication in the age of the web 2.0, monitoring, infographics and information cartography.

- Study trip.

- All students (apprenticeship, initial training or lifelong learning) benefit from personalised tutoring: CV workshops, media training, dissertation support.

Your future career

The first-year Master’s in Economic Intelligence gives access to further study through a second-year Master’s, particularly the three specialisations of the M2 in Economic Intelligence taught at the Ile-de-France Institute of Service Engineering, which are:

1. M2 in Strategic intelligence, Risk Analysis and Territories;

2. M2 in Influence, Lobbying and Social Media;

3. M2 in Analysis, Data Management and Innovation

Professional integration

Graduates are able to design, implement and coordinate a range of strategies and processes: information monitoring; analysis, preparation and transmission of information; communication; lobbying. They also possess multidisciplinary theoretical knowledge and know-how enabling them to master information and communication processes and tools in a wide range of professional settings.

 

Economic Intelligence professions are very varied and change quickly. Below is a non-exhaustive list:

- Member of an economic intelligence unit in a company or consultant in economic intelligence strategies and influence in an agency;

- Watchman in charge of reputational risks;

- Consultant in information / disinformation and corporate communication strategy;

- Lobbyist; Coordinator of networks of actors (federations, associations, groups) and communities (clubs, think tanks, political parties);

- External, institutional and digital communication manager;

- Community manager, particularly on social media;

- Watchman, investigator and analyst on social media;

- Consultant in public affairs and public relations.

Study objectives

The Influence, Lobbying and Social Media programme prepares students for sensitive roles in the management of information diffused by companies. It combines a managerial approach to information with the notion of economic intelligence and a communication-based approach to the processes and tools of influence and lobbying in the era of social media.

Graduates enter a wide range of professions depending on their curriculum and personal aspirations. Their career development also depends on their ability to build a coherent overall curriculum and their ambitions.

Major thematics of study

The course is mainly related to the field of information and communication science but it is deliberately multidisciplinary. Case studies and tutored projects foster an interdisciplinary approach to the challenges of economic intelligence.

The knowledge and skills acquired draw on following fields:

- Information and communication science

- Theoretical approaches of organisations, decision making and information and communication processes.

- Management; digital project management.

- Economic intelligence; information engineering and monitoring.

- Risk and crisis management.

- Political science; sociology of organisations.

- Analysis of decision-making processes.

- Influence; lobbying; digital communication strategies; identity; image and reputation in the age of social media.

- IT - Database creation and management - Knowledge management.

- Intangible assets and intellectual property law.

- History of lobbying; economic intelligence and European, French and local institutions.

Calendar

The course follows a work-study format with alternating periods at the university and in a company according to a pre-defined calendar which is sent out before the start of the course.
