Benefits of the program
After a multi-disciplinary first year (geography, history, sociology) and gradual specialisation from the second year, the L3 History Education pathway provides general training in history and skill sets to prepare students fully for a career in teaching. Students planning to take the primary teacher recruitment examination (CRPE) are offered a pre-professional training course and teaching methodology courses in history and geography as well as courses in mathematics and French. Students planning to take the CAPES (secondary school teaching certificate) are offered a pre-professional training course and courses in historiography, epistemology and history of education, as well as training for the oral part of the competitive examination.
Acquired skills
The History Licence equips students with both general knowledge in the subject area as well as skills which are valued in a large number of industry sectors. Students develop their analytical and critical skills as regards documents and discussions. Emphasis is placed on developing their written and verbal communication skills and on using tools effectively. Graduates of this training program are proficient in a wide range of expertise: - knowledge of historical issues from Antiquity to the present day from a political, social, economic and religious point of view); - concrete and rigorous methods in individual work (documentary research and source-based investigations); - an introduction to career plans; - knowledge of historical issues; - expertise in terms of data analysis and summary communication.

Your future career
According to the survey conducted by the OFIPE, 85% of students continue their studies after the Licence. 81% of those who enrolled on a Master's degree course obtained a two-year postgraduate qualification. Students on this pathway go on to do the Master's in Careers in Teaching, Education and Training (MEEF) for primary or secondary schools in order to prepare for the competitive examination for primary school teachers or secondary and Sixth Form teachers. It is also possible to choose another Master's such as those offered at the UPEM
Professional integration
The university is a founding member of the PEPITE 3EF. The aim of this scheme is to promote entrepreneurship in students and enable those who have an entrepreneurial project to balance their project and their studies. The UPEM has an entrepreneurship advisor assigned to meet students, support them and offer them a variety of services which we provide, including project maturation workshops, entrepreneurial speed dating, D2E (institution's entrepreneurship diploma) and advice from professional partners.
