TOURISM AND SPORTS RECREATION
Entry requirements
Target audience: students from the 2nd year of a Degree, BTS (Advanced Technician's Certificate) or DUT (Technology University Diploma) course. Knowledge of the sports and/or tourism sector is required. It is essential to know how to swim. Students must have a clear training project and must be motivated. Access to training is by application followed by individual interviews.
Benefits of the program
Small headcount (maximum 20 students) means students are provided with tailored supervision. Students are assessed throughout training. Professionals are highly-involved meaning the world of work is the focus of the course. Professional in-situ scenarios put theoretical courses into practice. Compulsory participation in a one-week immersion in a tourism and leisure sports-related business. The timetable is organized to ensure students can complete their tutored project.
Acquired skills
The Professional TLS (Tourism and Leisure Sports) Degree is designed for training professionals (employees or self-employed) who will be able to create and manage tourism and leisure sports-related services in both public and private sectors.
The trained students will be skilled in:
1. analysing TLS market data by implementing light feasibility and profitability studies as well as prospective studies for new markets;
2. creating and developing products and services promoting the host facility and the area/region on cultural leisure and leisure sports levels;
3. managing and monitoring touristic development projects and taking part in the implementation of TLS-related local/regional policy. Students will be able to contribute technical, financial and regulatory knowledge and skills to project discussions. They will be able to lead teams to attain specified objectives;
4. Communicating and promoting TLS in an area/region (for example for a Town/City Hall, interconnected community body, tourist office), in a facility like a holiday village, an associative leisure sports-related structure (example UCPA - outdoor sports centres), in a business entity selling TLS products.

Course venue
Schedule of studies
University term begins in September. Courses take place from September to end January. Students are examined under continuous assessment. From February, students must undertake a compulsory placement of at least 12 weeks This placement may be carried out in France or abroad. Defence of the tutored project thesis takes place in February or June based on the progress of the student's work. Defence of the placement thesis takes place in June or September based on the student's placement dates.
Your future career
Students may pursue their studies in particular with a Master's in Sports Management. Notwithstanding, the primary aim of this course is professionalization opening access to positions as coordinator in tourism and leisure centres, activity leader in holiday centres, jobs in Tourist Offices, in charge of developing TLS, project manager. In the private sector: creator of a business specialized in offering services in the field of tourism and leisure sports, logistics manager in an events agency
Professional integration
Professional opportunities focus on: - positions as creator and manager of touristic and sports services in the private sector (e.g. hotel chains) - professions related to Outdoor Physical Activities: coordinator in tourism and leisure centres, activity leader in holiday centres, etc. These existing professions will be enriched with a cultural aspect which invites to imagine new functions centred on touristic development.
- positions in local authorities and State institutions: "events" service manager for local authorities (Tourist Office) or project leader for heritage development for Departmental Councils or community clusters, project leader.
- positions in the private sector: creator of a business specialized in offering services in the field of tourism and leisure sports, logistics manager in an events agency.
Study objectives
The Professional TLS (Tourism and Leisure Sports) Degree is designed for training professionals (employees or self-employed) who will be able to create and manage tourism and leisure sports-related services in both public and private sectors.
Major thematics of study
main subjects: STAPS (Science and Techniques of Physical and Sports Activities), subjects related to tourism management and economy, foreign languages. Knowledge of heritage, IT and methodology in writing and speaking are indispensable for addressing business requests.
Study organization
La formation débute debut septembre. Elle est organisée en deux grandes périodes : une période de formation académique pendant laquelle les étudiants suivent des cours et bénéficient de travaux dirigés pratiques pour être au plus près des demandes des professionnels. En début de formation un séminaire d'intégration obligatoire dans une entreprise permet de souder le groupe et de connaître les problématiques de l'entreprise (gestion, budget, recrutement...). Cette partie de la formation se termine en février. A partir de cette période les étudiants partent en stage en entreprise pour un minimum de 12 semaines. Le stage peut se dérouler en France ou à l'étranger ou peut être utilisé pour créer une entreprise.
