Master ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS

Environnement et géomatériaux
Entry requirements
Students who have passed the M1 of this Master's degree are automatically accepted onto the M2. Students with an M1 in other Master's degrees in the environmental field or in the field of science, technology and health, or engineering school graduates may be accepted in the second year onto one of the Master's degree specialisms by agreement from the educational committee. Continuing training students may perhaps be able to validate some of the teaching units depending on their professional experience. They must submit a special application form (please contact the course leader).
Benefits of the program
Visits to sites such as incineration plants, technical landfill centres, decontamination sites, waste water treatment plants, etc. with contributions from professionals provide a clear insight into the environmental fields. Case studies and mini-projects reinforce the practical side in several teaching units.
Acquired skills
The "Environment and Geomaterials" specialism is designed to: - provide the fundamental knowledge necessary for analysing environmental pollution (water and soil) caused by urban, industrial and farming activities, and analysing the lifecycle of geomaterials (from development to recycling) - provide the necessary tools for an environmental approach (Law, ISO standards, HQE, etc.);
Registration details

Semester 3 : theory section, October-January Semester 4 : internship, 5 - 6 months, between February and September
Your future career
The Master's degree in Environmental Hazards, Environment and Geomaterials pathway aims to train students for employment in teaching or in the research sector within public or semi-public organisations and professional technical centres. It also provides job opportunities in the Research and Development sectors for large and medium-sized companies concerned about improving the environment and sustainable development (design offices). It leads to environmental engineering or research professions connected with the following fields : pollution analysis and control (water and soil) ; pollution (water, soil) and waste management and treatment ; organisation of waste recycling procedures ; observation and management of environmental hazards ; preparation of hazard prevention plans ; study and application of current regulations in the environmental field.
Professional integration
Surveys carried out at the university show that the majority of former master's students enrolled in the field of "Science and Technology" enter the working life. Eighteen months after graduation, 87% are employed.
Study objectives
The "Environment and Geomaterials" specialism is designed to: - provide the fundamental knowledge necessary for analysing environmental pollution (water and soil) caused by urban, industrial and farming activities, and analysing the lifecycle of geomaterials (from development to recycling) - provide the necessary tools for an environmental approach (Law, ISO standards, HQE, ...).
Major thematics of study
Environmental legislation/standards/safety, Pollution and Soil Treatment, Engineering geology, Geotechnics, Waste management: solid and liquid waste, characterisation and treatments, Natural water and pollution, Site visits/conferences , Water treatment technology , Soil pollution diagnosis, Storage matrices, Quality, Safety, Environment 4. 5-6 month internship
Study organization
Major thematics of Research
Laboratoire Géomatériaux et Environnement (UPEMLV)
Partenariats :
Partenariat avec des établissements de Recherche : IRSTEA, INRA, CSTB, EDF, CEA, LRMH (Laboratoire de Recherche des Monuments Historiques - Champs sur/Marne), IFSTTAR.
