Non-exchange students

Université Gustave Eiffel extends for the academic year 2020/2021 the partial exemption from differentiated tuition fees for newly arrived non-EU students introduced in 2019/2020, so that the remaining amount at their expense is aligned with the tuition fees relating to each diploma and set by Ministerial Order, which apply to EU-students (Board deliberation of 3/10/2019).

International students from the European Union and the European Economic Area

You are a candidate of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), the Swiss Confederation, Monaco or Andorra and you wish to enroll in the French higher education system:

1st step

  • For a registration in 1st year of bachelor’s degree :

You have or will have a French baccalauréat, a European Bac or a diploma giving access to higher education, a foreign diploma outside the EU, or an international bac:

  • For a registration in 2nd, 3rd year of Bachelor, Master or Engineering studies

You must use the e-Candidat application on the Université Gustave Eiffel website.
Most of our courses from the 2nd year of Bachelor’s degree to Master’s degree are available online.
Access to the application site is possible from February 12, 2020 for all courses.
Each student receives a response indicating whether or not he or she is admitted to the academic training to which he/she has applied.

Enrolment at Université Gustave Eiffel for first year Bachelor’s degree

You are of foreign nationality outside the European Union and you reside in one of the 44 countries concerned by the "Studying in France" procedure :

The procedure "Studying in France" (CEF) only concerns the individual candidacy of foreign students holding foreign diplomas (outside the EU, EEA and Swiss confederation) wishing to register for the first time in a French university.

CEF countries: Algeria, Argentina, Benin, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Chile, China, Colombia, Comoros, Congo Brazzaville, South Korea, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Egypt, United States, Gabon, Guinea, Haïti, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mauritius, Mauritania, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, Democratic Republic of Congo, Russia, Senegal, Singapore, Taiwan, Tchad, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey and Vietnam. 

It is MANDATORY to submit your application online on the Campus France website of your country of origin at the following address: www.desomecountries.campusfrance.org no later than January the 17th, 2020.

Translation of your titles, diplomas and documents:
You must have your documents written in a language other than French translated into French.

Enrolment at Université Gustave Eiffel for first year Bachelor’s degree

You are of foreign nationality outside of the EU and do not reside in a CEF country

You must apply via the Preliminary Admission Request (Demande d’Admission Préalable - DAP) - white file. This file is delivered by the cultural department of the French embassy of your country. The embassy will forward the file to the university. 

The embassy will inform you about the examination of the Test de Connaissance du Français - TCF DAP.

Application details

As part of the DAP procedure:

  • The candidate can choose three universities;
  • The candidate must have his documents translated into French by a sworn translator, for example in Paris: http://www.cetiecap.com/
  • The answer provided is only valid for the year mentioned on the file;
  • The candidate must take the TCF DAP exam, except for:

-Nationals from a country with French as official language (27 states in addition to France),
-foreign students from French bilingual sections,
-holders of the DALF (Advanced French Language Diploma) C1 or C2, DELF B2, TEF with at least 14/20 in the written expression test.

Test de Connaissance du Français (TCF): Checking language level

This exam is mandatory in order to judge the level of written expression and oral comprehension of the student. The TCF certificate is valid for 2 years.

  • Registration:

Candidates must register at the TCF before February  4th, 2020 via the following link: https://www3.ciep.fr/LF/TCF/inscription/

During the registration, applicants must pay 72 € * (price for the year 2020).

Sessions for the Test de Connaissance du Français (TCF) are organized by universities. Université Gustave Eiffel organises a TCF exam on Thursday, February 4th, 2020.

* The price is set by decree, it may be modified each year.

  • Test:

Following the registration and the payment on the CIEP website, students are summoned during the month of February to take their test. This test lasts 2h25, and is divided into two parts:

oral comprehension test (20 minutes), proficiency in language structures (20 minutes) and written comprehension (45 minutes)written expression (60 minutes)

In order to pass the test, the candidate must obtain a number of points higher or equal to 300/699 (level 3). Passing the test does not mean that the candidate will be accepted, but that his / her file will be examined by a pedagogical committee. 

For more information regarding the TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français), you can consult the website http://www.ciep.fr (Centre International d’Etudes Pédagogiques).

  • Please note:

The duplicate of the certificate shall be inserted in the DAP file, the original is given to the candidate.

On the CIEP website there is a page devoted entirely to the TCF for the DAP. The candidates will find all the information relating to their test (example of tests, registration calendar, duration of the tests, cases of exemption, bibliographical references ...).

Exchange Students

Application process

Students planning to study at Université Gustave Eiffel for one or two semesters need to initially contact their coordinator at their home institution. Université Gustave Eiffel only accepts nominated incoming students in accordance with the bilateral agreement signed by both institutions.

How to apply ?

Nominated students will receive by e-mail the link to the online application form they must complete and submit by the application deadline.
Please note that before submitting your online application you will have to upload the following documents on the platform :

  • Passport or ID card photocopy
  • Identity photo
  • Cover letter
  • All academic transcripts of records
  • CV
  • Certificate of Bachelor's/Master's degree (if you already have one)
  • Proof of language proficiency:

    - For Erasmus+ students from European universities (except for students applying for Master’s programs in Urban planning): Auto-evaluation on the MoveON online application form
    - For other students:  Language certificate level B1, B2 or C1, depending on the discipline
    - For all students applying for Master’s programs in Urban planning: Language certificate level B2 in French or C1 in English is required

  • Letter of recommendation in French or in English:

    - Erasmus+ students: Mandatory for French studies, Political science, Cinema and Audiovisual studies, and Tourism;
    - Non-Erasmus+ students: Mandatory for all the disciplines

  • Provisional list of courses

    - Erasmus+ students (from Program and Partner Countries): Learning Agreement duly completed, signed and stamped by the department and international relations coordinators of your home institution
    - Non-Erasmus students: List of the courses you would like to attend at Université Gustave Eiffel (please mention the titles of the courses, as well as the study program and year for each chosen subject), signed by the teacher in charge of your mobility

  • European Health Insurance card or Quebec social security form SE-401-Q-106 copy (if applicable)

ECTS credits
The UPEM organizes its courses according to the Qualifications Framework of the European Higher Education Area (Bachelor-Master-PhD). Université Gustave Eiffel requires 30 ECTS credits per semester for successful completion.

Recognition of student mobility, transcript of records

Incoming students at Université Gustave Eiffel will receive an academic transcript of records at the end of their stay (Erasmus+ students: in accordance with the previously completed Learning Agreement)
