Benefits of the program

This programme draws on the synergy of two complementary institutions, Université Gustave Eiffel for the creative, theoretical and research aspects, and the School of Audio Engineering Institute Paris, for its 40 years of professional and technical expertise in teaching the craft of sound. This makes it possible to offer a very comprehensive professional course. It provides access to a cutting-edge international professional network and to broadcast-quality audio and digital equipment.

Study objectives

The course strikes a balance between practical and theoretical subjects, in order to prepare students to work in music and audio production, including in the various different roles in music studios. At this level of study, students must also develop an approach to personal research combining technology and sound/musical aesthetic with the support of cultural and artistic project management tools.

It also aims to provide: in-depth understanding of contemporary music and their modes of production, understanding of its complex interactions with the evolution of science and technology, a practical and creative approach and an ability to design and undertake a range of tasks in the field of music and audio production, as well as in research and development in applied music.

To complete the course, students must undertake a professional or research thesis, which may take the form of an in-depth investigation of a technical question and its musical and aesthetic consequences. Students can also take a research/creation approach: in this case, the thesis will include the creation of a piece of music or sound art, alongside a theoretical, aesthetic and technical discussion.
